And I ordered all my textbooks for the quarter :/
So, I’m stuck taking 10 credits since none of the other classes available will work for me, I’m pretty much fucked :(

why comast, why???

Comcast internet is STILL down. Got power back last friday. From what I know, Comcast can’t get to their downed lines to fix everything until the utility companies are down clearing up everything and fixing their stuff. So it’ll probably be at least 3 more days I’m guessing before i get internet back up at home :(

Bellevue December 16th, 2006

Thursday night there was a HUGE storm. Lots of trees fell, branches fell, and tree limbs too. A big branch fell on our house and then roll off onto the walkway. We were out of power from 1am friday until about 10pm. Comcast is still down, so for now I’m stuck being productive at home.

from scratch!

Geekin' out, Random Crap December 12th, 2006

I decided to turn the job down. It was hella tempting, but I decided that It would be a smarter idea if i just go to college instead. I already have an awesome job right now, and i just got my contract extended through june. So if i did take that job, it would basically be a slap in the face to the director of it, who got it extended.

so I’m now still workin’ as the help desk technician, which should really be “IT tool” or something along those lines, because I’m basically their bitch and do what they need done. I can’t really complain though, i have crazy flexible hours and the pay is awesome. Even though I’m given stuff to do, I’m generally not required to do it immediately, so I’m able to prioritize it and do it in my own time.

In other news, the partition table on my computer corrupted, so I lost ALL my data. Luckily, I backed up my home directory way back when i merged my two kubuntu installs (edgy eft and dapper), so I got some stuff still, but all my music is gone. So I’m currently going about the process of getting it all again, it’s going to take me awhile, but so far i’ve got about half of it back.

Annas is coming on Friday, I’m hoping he doesn’t call me wanted to come by, because I’m sorta doing stuff with Helen on friday (shopping with her at costco and southcenter, then going to mikeys to setup her computer, and then ice skating!). I haven’t seen Annas in a hell of a long time, so I need to clean up my room, specifically the cot, which has turned into a big shelf for me, despite my efforts to keep it clear of crap.
I’ve scratched the car mp3 project for the time being. I have a 5GB rio carbon, so it’s been working well for me. I think I’m going to use the lcd i bought for it on my computer. I’m working on setting up the drivers for it, if i can get it running, then I can use it to report information about the computer, like cpu temp, ram usage, and songs.

Why is bigger better?

Random Crap December 5th, 2006

Okay, this is REALLY getting to me.

a few years back, I bought an iPod. a 20GB iPod to be exact. I used about 10-15GB with music, the rest i used to store files. of the 1,500 songs i put on there, I probably listened to about 600 weekly.
I didn’t use all the space, so i never felt the need to upgrade. And yet when Apple released a larger version everyone creamed their pants and got it.
Now we have the 80GB iPod video. Okay, I GUESS it’s understandable since it plays movies, but those movies really aren’t that big (They’re formatted for a tiny screen!).
I’m hoping most people have figured out by now that when Toshiba announces a new 1.8” drive, it really means Apple is going to make a bigger iPod. Well, they announced a 100GB iPod.
This is getting rediculous, do you really need 100GB of space on your iPod? I don’t think so!
I have a 4GB Rio carbon that works just fine for me. I put all the music i listen to on it, and i barely cover 2GB of it. I guess that’s just me, but I still am mystefied by the whole “I need to put my entire music library on there! DRRRR

The Tubes man, the tubes!!

Geekin' out December 3rd, 2006

It was been brought to my attention that even though I refer to the internet as a “series of tubes” or “cruising the tubes in my dump truck”, nobody knows what the hell I’m talking about.

Well, this is what I’m talking about

Yay for phones!

Bellevue, Geekin' out December 1st, 2006

So yesterday when I was showing the director my sweet new iPaq, he mentioned to check with chris about getting a sim chip for it!
Well, today I was talking to chris and I mentioned and he said he would check for one. The director came by later and asked chris about it, and he whipped one out for me!

So, I now have free phone service for my iPaq! Only catch is that it is now my work phone, and I need to have it with me wherever I go in the event that something occurs and they need to contact me. Other then that, free phone!
I plan on keeping this one strictly work-related (possibly close friends and relatives) and I’ll have my own phone for my day-to-day needs.
